complies with the provisions of national and international laws and standards
regarding higher education and related areas. The University subscribes to good
corporate governance frameworks by creating policies and monitoring mechanisms
which ensures that the University remains compliant to laws and standards.
7.5.2 Improve institutional research
Institutional research promotes institutional effectiveness, through the provision of
access to reliable data and information. Data is one of the most important
intellectual property assets of any institution to which all are entitled to have access
to, for legitimate purposes except where the nature of data requires restriction. The
university shall continue to commit resources for institutional research to strengthen
its capacity to provide information for institutional planning, policy formulation, and
decision making. We shall create an enabling environment for timely provision of
information, acceleration and improvement of decision making, by optimising
internal processes and increasing efficiency within the institution.
7.5.3 Improve internationalisation and relations with strategic partners
UNAM will increase its international profile of students and staff through meticulously
selected MOU’s with peer and high ranking institutions of higher learning and industry
for the benefit of research, staff and student exchange, and by employing skilled
expatriates. The University will address global challenges through fostering relationships
with international partners, membership to associations and participating in
international projects and programmes.
In Table 1, the strategic issues are clustered according to their relatedness. In the final
analysis, five themes emerged, namely, Institutional Sustainability; Higher Education
Graduate Employability; Institutional Planning and Internationalisation; Community
Engagement, Social Relevance and Environmental Sustainability; and Transformative
