Aim: The study aimed at reaching the following objectives: (1) To
identify the challenges that the mathematics teachers experience in
implementing the revised curriculum for the Namibian Senior
Secondary Certificate Ordinary (NSSCO) in Endola Circuit,
Ohangwena Region (2) To recommend strategies to address these
challenges faced in the implementation of the mathematics revised
curriculum for the Namibian Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary
(NSSCO) in Endola Circuit, Ohangwena Region.
Methodology: A qualitative methodology was utilised to collect data
from 12 participants who comprised four HODs for mathematics and
eight mathematics teachers from the four selected secondary schools
in Endola circuit, Ohangwena region through an in-depth face to face
interview.
Results: The study revealed that challenges affecting the new
mathematics curriculum implementation include the negative attitude
of learners toward mathematics, lack of motivation for both teachers
and learners, overcrowded classes, lack of educational infrastructures
such as classrooms buildings due to lack of financial support and lack
of parental involvement.
