the Contemporary Library Building to Enhance Teaching,
Learning, Research, and Innovation: A case of Hifikepunye
Pohamba Library, University of Namibia
Background: Libraries located at universities are established with a
sole purpose of sustaining the academic community in terms of their
teaching, learning and research needs. Thus, the library at Hifikepunye
Pohamba (HP) Campus at the University of Namibia, went through
major transformations in terms of concept reconfiguration, design,
learning and research paradigm shifts
Aim: The purpose of this paper is to investigate how HP library
contributes towards student learning to enhance teaching and learning,
research and innovation as a result of the transformation of the
facility.
Methodology: This is a quantitative descriptive study employing a
case study design.
Results: Evidence is based on how the HP Campus Library was
transformed from the small old typical building with a seating
capacity of 150. Student and staff narratives on how it enhanced
teaching and learning, research and innovation as a result of the
undertaken transformation will be presented.
Recommendations: Further research is recommended to find out how
the new facility impacts teaching, learning and research.
