The Doctoral Academy level 1 training programme is designed to be innovative, challenging,
and responsive to the changing needs of the health sciences and veterinary medicine, providing
a world-class research training programme.
Doctoral Academy Level 1 Programme Outcomes
At the end of the Doctoral Academy level 1 training programme, students will be able to:
1. Formulate research questions and develop research proposals that are grounded in
appropriate theoretical and conceptual frameworks.
2. Demonstrate understanding of different research designs, both qualitative and
quantitative, and select and justify appropriate designs for their research questions.
3. Conduct comprehensive and systematic literature reviews that will inform their
research design and analysis.
4. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of research ethics, design and conduct research
ethically and responsibly.
5. Select and apply appropriate sampling methods that are aligned with their research
objectives and design.
6. Design and implement data collection methods, both qualitative and quantitative,
appropriate for their research questions and objectives.
7. Analyze quantitative data and interpret the results.
8. Use qualitative data analysis techniques to identify key themes and patterns in their
data.
9. Synthesize and integrate both qualitative and quantitative data in mixed methods
research designs.
10. Effectively communicate their research findings through written and oral presentations,
including conference presentations and publications.
