TEARS OF SUFFERING

                    10 THE SUPREME SACRIFICE

The military training further inspired him to become a
loyal citizen with unshakeable faith. The guilt of having
absconded from his benefactors faded away from his
mind as time passed. He believed in a predestined fate—
to serve the nation. Assuming himself a brave soldier, he
devoted his life to safeguarding the nation at all costs.

Most recruits were deployed to the frontiers. Ugyen
joined the regimental wing at Yonphula. After a few
years, he was promoted to Gopa for his unimpeachable
sincerity and integrity. Soon, he was transferred to
Nganglam Regimental Wing, at the front line.

Years later, soldiers were spearheaded by a gallant and
visionary monarch into the forest with newfangled
weaponries to flush out the militants who had trespassed
across the border and set up camps.
