TEARS OF SUFFERING
Samphel shook his head. “He just can’t. I saw
everything.”
Doctor stood up and picked the car key. “Fine, let’s go.”
Samphel let out a whoop of joy.
In the town, they drove around the streets and corners
but couldn’t find the boy. They went to the parking lots
and bus terminals, and back to the downtown. They
spent more than an hour, so they gave up the search.
Samphel anticipated that he would find him the next
morning. “Oops. Never mind, I will find him
tomorrow.”
“Yeah, you can bring him home tomorrow, if you see
him,” consoled Doctor. “Ama and I would be glad to
have him.”
Samphel didn’t reply. He just kept peering glass into the
crowd through the window. At the end of the street, he
saw a boy peeping into a shop. He couldn’t identify the
boy against the rays of light, so he rolled down the glass
and peered with his eyes squinting.
“There,” he said. “Stop the car, Dad!”
Doctor parked the car and looked out. “Where?”
“Over there. I am sure that’s Ugyen.”
