so he fidgeted in his seat, but he showed his best
manners. The doctor and Ama were impressed.
“Have some more,” said Ama.
“Thank you, Ama,” replied Ugyen, covering his mouth.
“I am full now.”
“Make sure you are full,” added Samphel. “No hesitation,
please.”
Ugyen’s restless feet tapped the floor as he grinned. “I
really am full.”
After dinner, Samphel took Ugyen to his room and
showed him a bed. “You’re going to sleep here
hereafter.”
It was Saturday, meaning half-day school. That morning,
Samphel dressed up for the school. Before he left, he
went to the kitchen and reminded Au Lham to feed
Ugyen. “And don’t let him go out as he might leave.”
Au Lham rolled her eyes. “Why so much care for that
boy?”
“Please, Au,” said Samphel.
“Okay.”
