Ugyen and Tshoden remained uncommunicated. None
of them knew about each other’s exact whereabouts. As
she was back home after months, Tshoden was in the
warmth of her parents’ affection that she almost forgot
Ugyen. When his brother didn’t return, Ugyen began to
miss her, but he had no phone number.
A few days later, the phone rang. T-r-i-n-g! T-r-i-n-g!
Au Lham picked it. “Hello?”
“Hi Au, how are you?” said someone from the other line.
She beamed. “Samphel? I am fine, and you?”
“I am fine,” replied Samphel. “Where is Ugyen?”
“He is here.”
“Please give it to him, Au.”
