Parent Conferences and Student Led Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences should be scheduled on an as-needed basis. Student Led Conferences
are scheduled at least once each year. These virtual sessions both focus on current student success
and opportunities for improvement. Teachers should have parents sign a conference attendance
form/sign-in sheet. Please submit the completed Parent/Teacher Conference Form (Exhibit Q) to
the principal. Parents also may request a Parent Conference using our website. Our goal is 100%
attendance. If you would like an administrator to join a conference, please give them notice ahead
of time. Documentation of such conferences should be placed on the parent contact log (Exhibit
P).
Teachers should feel free to contact parents on an individual basis. Parent Contact Logs (Exhibit
P) should be kept and turned in at the end of the semester. As a rule: all parents should be contacted
throughout the 9-week grading period. This contact should be through e-mail, conference, or phone
call. Positive parent communications should be a priority of staff.
Social Network and Online Message Boards
The absence of, or lack of explicit references to a specific site does not limit the extent of the
application of this policy. Where no policy or guideline exists, employees should use their
professional judgment and take the most prudent action possible.
Social network media refers to sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, etc.,
as well as blog postings. Social network media and blogs are any information posted on the Internet
and can include written information, photos, drawings, videos and other graphic or audio
information. Postings on Internet bulletin board systems, Internet chat rooms, Internet web pages
or any similar form of communication over the Internet applies to the stipulations of this policy.
Employees are responsible for any information they maintain or post on social network media and
online message boards, and such content, if inappropriate, may affect their employment.
Employees may not post information that places The Lawson Academy, its management, products
or services in a negative light or that discloses any confidential information about The Lawson
Academy employees or students. All employees are prohibited from discussing or posting
WALIPP’s confidential or proprietary information in online social networks, Internet chat rooms
and on Internet message boards. Do not reference or cite WALIPP’s clients, partners or customers
without their express written consent.
The Lawson Academy requires employees who choose to participate in such activities to comply
with all Academy guidelines and policies, including, but not limited to the Harassment Policy.
Online social networks, blogs and message board comments posted by an employee that are
discriminatory or in violation of the Harassment Policy are unacceptable.
