Withdrawal
Students who are withdrawing from school must turn in all textbooks and resources prior to
leaving. It is the teacher’s responsibility to provide grades and to assit with checking in books.
The school records clerk is responsible for withdrawing students and sending student records. An
exit interview must be conducted with the Principal and/or District designee before the school
clerk is authorized to release student records. Complete the Student Exit Interview form (Exhibit
B) and copy the District Office.
This process takes 48-72 hours to complete. Withdrawals will not be completed on the date they
are initiated!
• Official Transcript: The process of receiving an official transcript for a student who is
withdrawing from The Lawson Academy takes approximately 24 to 48 hours. To receive
an official transcript for a student that is withdrawing from The Lawson Academy, the
student must first turn in all textbooks and/or other school property, pay all outstanding
fees and have a clear account balance with the Business Office.
• The Lawson Academy District Office Representative will initiate the withdrawal
process with your student’s Principal, teachers, and all other functions of the school to
make sure that your student is cleared to withdraw. After 24 hours you may want to contact
the Registrar to see if there is anything outstanding that you need to take care of.
• New School: To immediately enroll in a new school, the student will need a transcript and
possibly a current report card. Both an unofficial transcript and the most current report
card must be requested from the District Office. Most schools will allow a new student to
conditionally enroll based on an unofficial transcript. Once your student is enrolled in a
new school, have the Registrar fax or mail a copy of a records request to:
The Lawson Academy
PEIMS Office
5052 Scott Street
Houston, TX
FAX 713-225-1561
Once all books, fees, uniforms, and your business office account is cleared, all pertinent
student records will be transferred to the new school.
