In live entertainment, unlike radio, television, or movies, the performers are very conscious of their
audience. It is the individual teacher’s responsibility to instruct students that all talking,
whispering, whistling, stamping of feet, and booing are discourteous. Teachers are to escort their
individual classes to the assembly site. All teachers should be seated with their classes and help
supervise all students. Teachers should check role at each assembly
Daily Schedule
Every teacher should review with students The Lawson Academy’s Online Master Schedule
during the first week of school. All students will share a common lunch period form 12:00pm-
12:30pm daily.
Dismissal Time
During regular school setting daily dismissal is at 4:00 p.m. three minutes before the final bell,
classes may prepare for dismissal. To ensure safety of all students,designated staff must carefully
monitor students until 4:15 p.m. After this time, all remaining students will be monitored by the
teacher assisstants. Students may not leave earlier than 15 minutes prior to dismissal, unless a
parent has notified the front office via phone. Do not dismiss a student directly from any area
unless you have been notified by the front office that the parent has followed the early dismissal
procedure.
Virtual Class Celebrations
There are to be only three class parties during the school year that are scheduled during
instructional time:
• Winter Holidays - (any time after 1:00 P.M.)
• Valentine’s Day - (any time after 1:00 P.M.)
• End-of-Year - (any time after 12:00 P.M.)
Individual birthday parties are not allowed.
Inclement Weather
In case of delay or cancellations of school due to inclement weather, administration will make the
decision to close or delay school by 5:00a.m. The Lawson Academy follows the decisions of the
Houston Independent School District regarding inclement weather.
If school is delayed, it will be for two (2) hours, which means all staff other than the Principal
would report two (2) hours later than normal report time. Any delays or closures will be broadcast
on the local news.
