or other staff member as being checked out to that student. Students are not to write on or in
any of the textbooks. Teachers are not liable for a lost textbook if the teacher established that a
child had possession of the book before it was lost and maintains documentation.

The fine for any damage that prevents the book being used again would be the full cost of the
book. If a student pays for a book in full, s/he is entitled to keep that book.

Start-of-School-Year Inventory: In July (start of the school year), inventory all sets of textbooks
that will be used during the school year. You may use the Teacher Textbook Record Form
(Exhibit F) to record information. Teacher sends a copy to the Administrator for record-keeping.

End-of-School-Year Inventory: Check your current inventory against your July inventory.
Record this information on the Book Inventory List (Exhibit H) sheet. List all losses by writing
copy numbers in numerical order. Record the number of lost books. Submit this Textbook
Inventory sheet to the Administrator for record-keeping.

Administrator: Informs Principal of new or additional textbooks to update the school's data base.
Is responsible for processing (stamping and numbering) of new textbooks. Checks on status of
               textbook inventory.

Teacher: Does a classroom textbook inventory for record-keeping purposes. Assists in the
processing (stamping and numbering) of new textbooks. Submits end- of-the-year textbook
inventory by due date for filing.
