               Progress Reports

               A progress report will be sent home twice during each 9-week grading period for all students.
               Please make sure all grades are updated weekly in the Student Information System (Web Smart).
               Parents and guardians are encouraged to contact the teacher should they have any questions. When
               sending deficient grades home, please be sure to explain why the grade is low, i.e., missing work,
               low scores, etc. Be sure to keep in constant communication with parents regarding grades and
               conduct.

               Retention Forms

               All teachers are required to follow the Retention and Promotion Guidelines. The Retention
               Checklist must be completed on any student at risk of failing. On the form, it must be documented
               that a conference was held during the first semester that discussed the student's achievement. By
               the end of March, it must be documented on the Retention Checklist that a second conference was
               held and the parents were notified of the possibility of retention. Final decisions regarding
               retention will be made collaboratively with the administrative team, parents, and core content
               teachers. Checklists are due back to the principal by the last week of May and will be discussed
               at Summative/End of Year Conferences.

               Retentions Considerations:
                   1. At least 2 failing grades in the four core subjects
                   2. The teacher must have documented a variety of interventions, made a referral to the
                       administrative team, and made frequent contact with the parents.

               The process is as follows:
                   1.  List of students failing to show progress to be submitted to the principal in April;
                   2.  A letter is sent home from the core content teacher for a conference;
                   3.  Grade Placement Committee;
                   4. Another letter is sent home from the principal for a conference; and
                   5. Final list of students with failing grades along with intervention documentation, to the
                                        nd
                       principal by the 2 week in May.
