Solution – police missing person
Missing person
Futr is working with the
Northamptonshire police on a
number of areas to improve with
Bots. One example is a missing
person bot which was proposed to
Northants Police who then agreed
to fund the PoC. Data available for
West Yorkshire Police states that on
average, each high-risk missing
person costs £3,202 in officer time
(30 PC hours, 15 Sgt Hours 5
inspector Hours, 2 Supt Hours); with
medium risk cases cost (average)
£1,234 in officer time.
The Missing Persons bot is actually
two bots; one for the public / carers
to upload their ward’s details (incl.
photo), alert when missing and
track progress and the other for the
emergency services to be alerted
when someone has gone missing
with details or to use facial
recognition to query the database
when they find someone lost
without ID. It will also provide a
complete audit trail and will be
created once an individual’s
personal information is captured in
the bot, thereby reducing the
administrative paperwork required
of an officer to file the incident.
Futr presented this bot at the
launch of the Police Tech Pioneers
in late 2018 and were approached
by the Met who said the bot would
save them £10m per year.
Futr is awaiting a meeting to agree
the roll-out of the bot to a large test
group and then to the public. Futr
are also meeting with the Met in
December. There is a cost to
building the production-ready bot,
but so long as a meaningful
medium to long term contract with
Northants can be secured (which
Futr have been assured), then Futr
are willing to absorb that cost in
light of good monthly recurring
licence fees. Futr expect to charge
Northants in the region of £2k per
month for this bot and much larger
constabs like the Met, much more.
Other opportunities
Futr also has a number of other
concepts being developed for the
police. In addition they are
targeting councils and national
public sector bodies.
