          EMPLOYMENT READINESS OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION STUDENTS
                          IN A HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION

               This study sought to determine the employment readiness of business administration
        students a higher educational institution.
               As to age majority of the respondents representing 86 or 87.76 were 19 - 22 years
        old while a minority belonged to the either lower or upper age groups with reference to the
        majority group;  almost three-fourths representing 70  or 71.47 composed of female and a
        great majority representing 96 or 97.96 were still single. The grand overall weighted mean of
        this variable is “4.18” which has a transmuted rating is “ready”. The business administration
        students  of  Urdaneta  City  University  is  ready  when  it  comes  to  understanding  the  stresses
        or  challenges  attached  with  employment.  In  terms  of  the  problems  encountered  the  extra-
        curricular and linkages involvement were identified to have been a problem sometimes in the
        college and among students.
               In the light of the findings revealed by the study, the following conclusions were drawn:
        1)  Student  of  business  administration  in  Urdaneta  City  University  is  typically  young,  female
        dominated and mostly single. The academic activities and linkages of Urdaneta City University
        to augment of employment readiness of the respondent - business administration students is
        “adequate”; 2) The level of employment readiness of the respondent – Business Administration
        students of Urdaneta City University is ready. Hence, these students are ready to perform the
        tasks  and  meet  the  challenges  and  stress  in  the  work  place;  3)  The  levels  for  employment
        readiness of the respondents – Business Administration students are the same regardless of
        their age or sex 4) The relationship in the levels for employment readiness of the respondents
        – Business Administration students and profile variable only differs in terms of sex. 5) There
        are  problems  encountered  by  the  respondents  –  Business  Administration  students  in  their
        preparation for employment on their personal basis and on the part of the university. However,
        all these problems are just minimal in nature.
               The following recommendations are forwarded based on the conclusions made: 1) The
        respondent  –  Business  Administration  students  should  exert  effort  to  make  themselves  very
        ready for employment. 2) The business administration students should endeavor to enhance
        their readiness for employment by attending fora or symposiums designed to enhance their
        employment readiness. 3) The University should endeavor to forge linkages with firms with high
        potential of recruiting and absorbing new employees. 4) The University to undertake regular
        evaluation  on  academics,  extra-curricular  and  linkages  to  determine  areas  for  improvement.
        5) Other studies should be undertaken on employment readiness of graduating students using
        other variables and wider venue.
