                               MARIA CORAZON V. SALINAS

This study determined the status of the Health Education Programs Implementation in
the public schools of Pangasinan II SY 2015-2016. Specifically, Problem No. 1 dealt on the profile
of the respondents in terms of age, sex, civil status, highest educational attainment, number
of years in health education work and relevant trainings attended. Problem No. 2 dealt on the
status of the health education programs implementation along the following areas: a) attainment
of vision, mission, goals and philosophies; b) facilities and instructional materials; c) curriculum
inputs/ attitudes and skills; d) health services; e) health and nutrition education; f) sources of
funds; and g) appraisal/ evaluation used. Problem No. 3 dealt on the problems encountered by
the teacher-respondents in the implementation of the Health Education Program. Problem No. 4
is the development of a proposed enhancement program to improve health education programs
        implementation.
The following are the findings of the study: Majority of the respondents belong to the
age bracket of 40-49 years old, considered middle age, married, and with Master of Arts units
have 11-15 years in health education work and have attended various trainings from school to
international level. On the perceptions of the respondents on the status of the implementation of
the health education program, the overall average weighted mean is 4.11 described as attained.
Along the area of attainment of visions, mission, goal and philosophies, curriculum inputs, health
services, and health and nutrition education obtained a rating of “very much attained” while
the area of facilities and instructional materials, sources of funds and appraisal/evaluation used
        obtained a rating of “attained”.
The following are the conclusions based on the findings: The public elementary and
secondary school teachers are relatively middle age, female dominated, married, educationally
qualified, had a number of years’ experience in health education work and had attended various
trainings. The respondents have very impressive ratings in the different areas of health education
programs. The problems “slightly” encountered by the respondents are similar problems and
common problems by any teacher, some of which are manageable. The proposed enhancement
program for health education programs implementation was developed.
Based on the findings and conclusions drawn, the following recommendations are hereby
forwarded: The public elementary and secondary school teachers concerned are encourage
to finish their masteral and doctoral degrees. The areas of health education programs which
obtained a rating of “very much attained” must be sustained. To lessen the “moderately serious”
problems encountered. Affecting the implementation of the health education program, a strong
collaboration with the DepED authorities should be strengthened to fully attain the goals. This
study may be replicated in other divisions to validate the results.
