UTILIZATION OF MULTIMEDIA INSTRUCTION IN MATHEMATICS
SALVADOR N. RABUT, JR.
This study focused on the utilization of Multimedia instruction in Mathematics in the
Division of Urdaneta City, SY 2015-2016. Specifically, it determined the extent of utilization of
multimedia instruction in Mathematics 10. In doing so, this study looked into 1) the profile of
the respondents’ with respect to age, sex, civil status, highest educational attainment, number
of years of teaching experience, number of relevant trainings attended and the students’
performance in Mathematics 2) the extent of utilization of multimedia instruction in Mathematics
3) the students’ performance in different learning areas in mathematics 10 4) the significant
relationships between the extent of utilization of multimedia instruction in mathematics and their
profile variables.
The researcher arrived at the following findings: Majority of the respondents belong to
age bracket 4 years old and above, females 29, married, have earned their masteral units, have
16 years and above teaching experience and have attended 7 or more trainings in all levels.
The extent of utilization of multimedia instruction in Mathematics by the respondent teachers
obtained a grand overall weighted means of 4.00 an indicative of “Utilized” transmuted rating.
The level of student performance along the different areas in Mathematics, 10 obtained an
average percentage rating of 83.58 which is Moving Towards Mastery.
In the light of the findings of this study, the following conclusions were drawn: 1) the
respondent teachers have adequate educational qualification thereby making them effective in
their instruction performance. 2) the respondent teachers’ extent of utilization of multimedia
instruction greatly influenced their instructional performance in Mathematics. 3) the very good
performance of students in Mathematics 10 can be attributed to the use of multimedia instruction
4) it is implied that regardless of the profiles of the respondents, they can perform their task un
teaching using multimedia at the same level 5) the extent of utilization of multimedia instruction
in Mathematics are not associated with the profile variables.
Based on the conclusions derived from this study, the following recommendations are
hereby presented: 1) the teachers should take their own initiatives to further their professional
upgrading by completing their masteral degree or even the highest educational attainment which
is doctoral 2) the use of multimedia instruction in Mathematics should be sustained to meet
high effective instructional performance among the teachers and high performance among the
students 3) more intensified training programs should be designed formulated and implemented
to upgrade the skills and competences of teachers in using multimedia instruction 4) further
studies should be conducted to look into the aspects of the extent of utilization of multimedia
instruction using other variables and in a wider scope.
