(1) IEEE- Yesist12

Yesist12 is a project competition, whose target audience is the

international student population. The contest is conducted by the IEEE
education society in order to encourage and inspire young engineers
globally. The Faculty co-ordinator Dr. C.Umayal delivered the welcome

speech for this event. The preliminary focus of the workshop was to
bring out the unique and innovative ideas and product prototypes that

would be appealing and viable when realised into the markets.

The first round of the contest took place in VIT Chennai, on the 13 of
July 2019 emphasized on various subjects including, uplifting societal
standards, disaster prediction and risk management, special needs and

health care, women and children safety, geographical and space,
science, and natural resources management and protection. The
participants hailed from 5 different renowned universities and were

segregated into a total of 7 teams.

The project that were presented had great scopes of implementation.
Each team was given a time span of 15 minutes to present their ideas, at
the end of which there was a question and answer round. Our guest and

evaluator Dr. Satheesh Kumar Perepu offered great insight on the
various aspects and modifications required for each project. The winner

of the event was team WeStitch from SRM Institute of Technology who
will have the great opportunity.
