Literary Elements:
The Building Blocks of Stories
All well written stories have certain fundamental things in common. We can
think of the things as the story’s building blocks, it’s structure, or it’s literary
elements. Authors use literary elements to effectively express their ideas.
Now, let’s have a look at some of the most important literary elements
and how we can analyze them.
Setting: When? and Where?
☞ When are the events happening? present day, 10
years ago, or 20 years in the future; day or night,
winter or summer; during a thunderstorm, a
hurricane, or a drought.
