➯ A minor or supporting character is neither the protagonist nor the

antagonist. Still, he is important, even if only making a very brief appearance.

➯ What are the personal qualities of each character?

➯ What are they like? Funny, serious, sad, happy, compassionate, mean,

                      easy-going, stubborn, intellectual, etc.

➯ What do they look like? Pretty, handsome, ugly, tall, short, thin, fat,

                              blue-eyed, brown-haired.

➯ What do they like to do? Reading,

               jogging, playing basketball, debating, sleeping,

               listening to music, playing piano.

✰ A Round character is complex, multidimensional, and usually

the protagonist. He develops and changes as the plot unfolds. He

struggles with a conflict that he must

               resolve.

✰ A Flat Character is simple. He has

                      one personality trait that doesn’t

                      change as the plot unfolds.

Food for thought: Must characters be people? Can they be

animals, mountains, or a family home? Think about it?
