8. Have students identify cultural practitioners with whom they would like to interact. Students
will plan for and interview the practitioner.
9. Have students participate in debates and discussions around topics such as “the relevance of
the cultural forms to Theatre Arts”.
10. Have students research and make short presentations on the use of cultural forms in religious,
spiritual, social, entertainment and ritual practices.
11. Have students create short movement phrases/designs showing similarities and differences in
cultural forms and contemporary works.
Caribbean Cultural Forms
For the purposes of this syllabus, the term, cultural forms, denotes aesthetic practices derived from
and identified with particular communities and cultures in the Caribbean. These practices include
rituals, festivals, celebrations, games, music, dances, and language. The following is a list of some
Caribbean cultural forms and territories where they are practised.
