3. Elements and principles of design:
(a) elements: dot, lines, shape, colour, texture, form, space, and value;
(b) principles: movement, contrast, balance, rhythm, repetition, unity/variety, pattern,
proportion, scale and emphasis; and,
(c) layout and composition.
4. Tools and materials:
(a) using a variety of tools and materials produce sculptural forms using additive and
subtractive processes;
(b) tools:
(i) use; and,
(ii) care and maintenance.
(c) materials:
(i) traditional: clay, wood, stone, metal, plaster and non-traditional: paper,
plastic, resin; and,
(ii) found, recyclable or reusable.
Organic materials are not to be used for SBA and Production Paper.
(d) sculptural forms:
(i) representational and non-representational;
(ii) decorative and utilitarian pieces;
(iii) preparation and storage of clay and other materials used in sculpture; and,
(iv) sculpt using soft stone, wood, paper, plaster of paris, wire, waxes, soap, metal
sheeting and ‘trashables’.
