3. Elements and principles of design:
(a) elements: dot, lines, shape, colour, texture, form, space, and value;
(b) principles: movement, contrast, balance, rhythm, repetition, unity/variety, pattern,
scale, proportion and emphasis; and,
(c) layout and composition.
4–5. Tools and materials:
(a) Ceramic forms:
(i) ceramic ware;
(ii) properties of clay;
(iii) types of clay: earthenware and stoneware;
(iv) preparation and storage of clay and other materials used in Ceramics:
wedging;
(v) stages of clay: wet, leather hard and bone dry; and,
(vi) hand building or mechanical processes.
None firing clay should not be used for the SBA or Production Paper.
(b) Techniques:
(i) pinch, coil, slab, modelling, draping, mould-casting, extracting and throwing
on the wheel in producing objects from clay; and,
(ii) joining pieces of clay ware: scoring and slip.
6. Health and safety procedures:
(a) appropriate selection of tools and equipment;
(b) safe use of tools and equipment; and,
(c) personal and protective equipment.
