A Bend in the Road

Everything was happening so fast, that I could not
believe this particular moment had come so
quickly!

Was I really here in the assembly hall waiting for
the results of my very first life-changing exam?
What if I didn’t pass for the school of my first
choice? What if I not only disappointed myself, but
disappointed all my teachers and family members
who were counting on me to excel?

I had never been a bright student at school and I
was never admired by any of my teachers. My mom
was embarrassed when she opened my report
book at the end of the term. I really did not care
about my grades. All that mattered to me was
having fun with my friends. Who could think about
grades when there were so many exciting things to
do in such a short time?

But there was one person who always believed me.
She believed that I had potential and that I was as
talented as any of the other students.
