The resence of julfar are (reddish
ottery ainted in red or brony-red,
roduced on the northern coast of the
Emirates), the abundance of Chinese
orcelain of blue and hite tye, as
ell as their Persian coies in frit
suggests here a date later than the
beginning of the 1th century. Tihs
ery modest construction is eidence
of the ery last "concrete' occuation
of this 2one of the tell.
The second building, beneath the
receding one and ith a different
orientation (Figre 4, on he lef), is set
in a much denser urbaniaiton. ts
architecture is hardly remarable, een

consrtuciton aears to be the northern rolongaiton of the grou of buildings
ecaated by the Danish team in 1962, and the lan of the remains cleared by the
French mission already maes ossible a modificaiton of the interretation roosed
not long ago by our colleagﻫes: the "street of the sou "ﻭhich they then identified is
none other than one of the interior saces of circulaiton of a ast rectangﻫlar hole,
erhas of caraanserai tye. The ecaation has meanihle shon that most of the
rooms oening onto this sace housed ery disitnct acitiites (coer oring,
fish-scaling, etc.), ihch reinforces, in fact, the hyothesis of a ublic lace for crafts
or trade.
The reliminary sutdy of the ottery has made it
.ﻳﻴﻈﺒﻴﻲﻘossible to better deifne the local roducitons,
obiously in the majoiryt on tihs site. The fe ﻱ؟ ﺑﻴﺘﻴﻲﺇﺙ#
imorted categories so far idenitfied (Julfar ottery,
rainan frit, cooing-are from northest ndia,
Chinese celadon from Longquan and other ﻭﻟﻴﺠﻴﺰﻳﻘﻨﻲ
ndo-Chinese roducitons) aear here as good ٠aiﺏg.ﻲﻴﻳﺅ
chronological indicators and hae arleady made it
ossible to establish a quite reifned dating rfom hte ﻣﺞﻬﺒ ﺟﻲ:+:iﺰﻳ ؟:ﺗﺎﻜ
