that it wao tho immediate outcome of tho action taken .v
againot Shaik Khalid and hie sons, which has oittorly
chagrined Shaik Easa, who is oelievod to have himself
encouraged the culprits, under the Delief that nooody would
dare to deal with them. He regards Hamad’s action as
entirely due to my Influence. I explained to the Qadhi that
I feared that intrigues of this nature, if persisted in,
could only harm Shaik Easa himself, and he agreed. He said
he would at once write a letter to Shaik Easa and adviso
him to cease agitation of thiB nature. I have heard nothing
more of it. 1 fear that we cannot expect anything from
Shaik Easa except hostility, DUt ne ha6 no real power, and
if he is allowed to make a few petty intrigues which will
result in nothing, he will eventually acquiesce in the
situation. 1 (& Shaikhs Aodulla and Hamad concur with me)
nave reason to suspect that VUsuf Kanoo, who is thoroughly
dissatisfied with the present state of affairs, does his
Dest to make Shaik Easa discontented with his lot. He is
never tired of referring to him as a martyr, though not a
year ago he had not a good word to say for himl VUsuf Kanoo
cannot, at present, find any raeun6 of dividing Shaik Hamad
and the Agency and neither Shaik Hamad nor I, see any
necessity to consult him. He is consequently engaged in
various petty intrigues aoout which I am addressing you a
separate letter.
