            To
i The Hon'ble the Political Resident,
                                 Buehire.

            Memorandum.
In continuation of my No.126/C of date, It has just now been
reported that Shaik Khalifeh tin Solman and some of the other
young members of A1 Khalifeh are sending a petition about
endeavouring to get signatures, It iB said to be addressed to
the Resident and among other things to demand
            1. The removal of Shaik llamad and myself
             2. Dismissal of Manamch police and cessation of the Municipality

and is to be replaced by a junior member of A1 Khalifeh selec-
ted by Hamad, to be reinstated
             4. No supervision of diving cases, which should be sent to the
                Salifeh only. etc.
Shaik Esa is reported by Shaik llamad to have sent a telegram
to the Government of India saying that Ills allowance is in
sufficient. Some Rs.20,0C0 is accumulated in his account which
he has refused to take and he has been carrying on quite
comfortably on the income from hie properties in Bahrain.
Shaik Abdulla reports that he is endeavouring to bring the
junior members of the family to reason and explain to them that
they will only bring trouble upon themselves by such absurd
representations to Government. Abdulla is firmly of opinion
that Yusuf Kar.oo is at the bottom of the present intrigues,
but as usual he covers his tracks very carefully. He had not
Informed me of what in going on or made any attempt to stop
it, which would seem to be his duty as a supposed supporter
ind friend of the Agency. I understand that so far, although
several members of A1 Khalifeh have cigned the petition, they
have been unable to Induce any of the merchants to sign, but
                                                                        some
