           occasioned us to give direction to tho Factors to enquire into the cause thereof
           & in a letter lately roccived from them they Say “ respecting the lettor the
           “ Agent wrolo Carem IChaun and to which the Khaun returned no answers it is
           “ owing we fear to his being offended with Us nor will he now permit of our
           “name being mentioned before him As Mr. Jervis formerly made him promises
           “ of Assistance against Meor Mahauna and tho Khaun relying entirely upon
           “ them finds himself disappointed ; we are not absolutely certain itlis is fact; it
           ** is what we are told by every One we have ask’d, is tho reason of tho Khaun’gs
          i <  not answering the Agent’s Letter, and we mention the Same as you order’d us
           “ to enquire into the Cause thereof ” And in another part of Said Letter being
           pressing for permission to detain a Cruizer on Account of the apprehension
           they are from Mier Mahauna they say “ as the Duch East India Company lost
           “ tbeir property at Carreck for their Servants attacking Meer Mahanna without
           “just Cause or Reason He possibly may retaliate on us for Mr. Jervis his sending
           “ the Tartar against him so that from these representations there is as much to
           “fear from the Khaun as Meer Mahanna unless some Methods are taken to
           “ reconcile affaires.”
               Enclosed your Honors will please to receive an Indent of Woollens for
           this M arkett and other places in tho Gulph.
              We are sorry to acquaint your Honors of the Death of Captn. Lesly
           Baillie who departed this Life the 30th Ultimo.
              The Success arrived here the 15th Ulto. from Bengal having on Board
          213 Bales & 8 Chests Froight, And on tho Owner’s Account 70 Bales 32 Chts.
          Benjamin oned Agalawood & 183 bags Gruff which Vessel return’d for
          Said Place the 20th Inst. & having nothing more to add beg leave to sub­
          scribe Ourselves with all due Deference & regard.

          obedienoo shall be paid. Enolosed is my Account Disbursements for July also
          my account Sales whioh I am in hopes to encrease ns I hear tho Khaun  soon
          intends to doth his Troops.
