When the British Post Office took over control of Muscat in
April 1948, Guadur — although still a dependency of Muscat — con
tinued to use Pakistan stamps and the Nasik overprints were still in use
until late 1949. Two of the rare covers bearing hand-stamped over
prints are postmarked November 2nd, 1948, and January 24th, 1949 —
some time after the Pakistan stamps had ceased to be valid in Muscat
itself. The stamps of Great Britain surcharged in Annas (or Naye
Paise) and Rupees, used in Muscat, were never used in Guadur.
The first Pakistan definitive issue of 1948 and various
commemorative issues up to 1958 were all used in Guadur, as were
the Pakistan “Service” stamps; but postal business was still negligible
and values above the R1 were generally only used on telegrams.
