Chocolate Buttermilk Pancakes with Homemade
Salted Caramel Sauce
what you need:
Pancakes Salted Caramel Sauce
1 cup all-purpose four 1 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder 1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons granulated sugar 3/4 cup heavy cream or half
1 tablespoon light brown sugar and half
1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 to 1 teaspoon kosher salt
pinch salt, optional
1 cup buttermilk
1 large egg
2 tablespoons canola or vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
directions:
Pancakes
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together frst 8 ingredients and set aside. In a
large measuring cup , whisk together 4 fnal ingredients and add the wet into
the dry ingredients. Place batter for desired pancake size into non stick frying
pan. Serve immediately or set aside and keep warm while making salted
caramel sauce.
Salted Caramel Sauce
In a saucepan combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium-low heat until
the sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally. Increase the heat to medium-high
and bring mixture to a boil without stirring. Boil until the mixture is a deep
amber color. Remove the pan from the heat, and using caution, whisk in the
cream. Add the vanilla and stir in the butter and salt to taste; or omit salt for
