Management Analyst & Deputy Clerk, Clerk of the Board, Martinez, CA September 2017 – Present
Serve in a multi-faceted role as an administrator, clerk, and manager. Responsible for complex projects, supervision
of personnel, records management, and creating and interpreting policies. Contra Costa County is an urban county in
California with nearly 1.2 million residents, over 9,000 employees, and an annual operating budget of approximately
$3 billion, governed by five elected Supervisors.
• Clerk meetings, in coordination with the Chief Assistant Clerk of the Board and Secretary of the Board.
• Assist in preparation, posting, and safekeeping of agendas and minutes.
• Oversee 75 citizen advisory boards, including compliance with regulations on training, membership, and
open meetings.
• Supervise and train staff within the seven-person department; oversee and train personnel responsible for advisory
bodies across county departments.
• Develop reports, policies, procedures for the Clerk of the Board and the Board of Supervisors.
• Index and store records in Laserfiche and other electronic records management systems, in accordance
with the department’s retention schedule.
• Provide policy and data analysis, performance insights, and process improvement information to
county departments.
• Respond to Public Records Act requests, and serve as a representative of accessible, open, and
transparent county government.
• Maintain the department’s website and develop external communication materials.
The Pew Charitable Trusts 2016-2017
Senior Associate, Pew-MacArthur Results First Initiative, Washington, DC June 2016 – August 2017
Served as a project manager, budget/policy analyst and consultant to select states and counties partnered with the
Results First Initiative, a capacity-building initiative that empowers states and counties to implement evidence-based
budgeting and policymaking.
• Led and coordinated the Initiative’s work in six jurisdictions.
• Supervise contractors, oversee contracts, and train and mentor staff in partner jurisdictions and organizations.
• Managed the Initiative’s local government work, including county recruitment, partnerships, and technical
assistance through a partnership with the California State Association of Counties (CSAC).
• Presented on behalf of the Pew Charitable Trusts and the Pew-MacArthur Results First Initiative at national
and regional conferences, events, and before high-level government stakeholders.
• Analyzed budget and administrative documents and made recommendations for policy and budget
decisions to achieve jurisdictions’ strategic goals.
• Developed strategic communications and community engagement plans.
U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier 2015-2016

Advanced the Congressman’s legislative priorities by staffing the Congressman’s Oversight and Government
Reform Committee work and a diverse, demanding portfolio of legislation and appropriations.
• Ensured that the Congressman was active on priority issues by staying apprised of developments in policy
areas and developing ways to engage and advance the Congressman’s agenda.
o Successfully brought a standalone bill from introduction to passage on the floor of the U.S House
of Representatives.
o Researched, drafted, and staffed six amendments that were considered on the floor of the U.S.
House of Representatives, leading to successful passage of two amendments.
• Staffed all of the Congressman’s Committee work for the House Committee on Oversight and Government
Reform and for selected hearings in the Committee on Education and the Workforce.
• Analyzed and provided recommendations on budgets, administrative documents, laws, and regulations.
• Wrote letters, speeches, statements for the Congressional Record, press releases & other public documents.
