Responsible for shepherding the Senator’s legislation, staffing Health and Budget and Fiscal Review committees
and numerous policy areas, while working collaboratively as a member of the policy team.
• Steered a number of the senator’s legislative proposals through the California state legislative process,
including a bill related to labor which became California State Law, a bill related to prescription drug abuse
prevention, and a bill related to personal information privacy.
• Researched and analyzed budgets, administrative documents, laws, and regulations.
• Staffed the senator on Senate Health Committee, including briefing the senator on bills to be voted upon,
and preparing the senator’s background materials prior to committee.
• Collaborated with constituents and stakeholders to craft legislation and build coalitions of support.
• Worked with a policy team to establish the Ending Poverty and Inequality in California Caucus, including
drafting the mission, vision statement, and strategic plan.
• Wrote statements, fact sheets, press releases, and other public documents for assigned bills.
• Participated in a robust stakeholder process to help oversee the appropriate implementation of the
Congressman’s legislation to update a state-based Prescription Drug Monitoring Program.

Represented the senator at district events, resolved constituent cases, organized and executed events of behalf of the
Senator. Supervise, interview, and train interns.
• Liaised with federal, state, and local agencies for the senator and the senator’s constituents.
• Analyzed budgets, administrative documents, laws, and regulations.
• Organized and executed over 25 events on behalf of the senator including town hall meetings, mobile
office hours, seminars, and resource fairs.
• Contributed to strategy and planning of community outreach and engagement.
• Represented the senator at events and community meetings, including roles as a presenter.
