Overall: RFL: He left his position as GM of Birmingham Water District because the Board was engaged in some
questionable activities and he did not want to be involved. His kids are grown and he and his wife are open to
relocating to San Diego.
As GM of Birmingham Water Works, Mac oversaw a staff of 650 employees and reported to a 9 member
elected board. He has been in the public-sector for 25 years. He came across as intelligent and polite. He
leads by example, "Several years ago we had a tornado come through Birmingham and took out 6,000
houses. Everyone had to report back to work and I was one of the first people there. I like being involved, I
like being in the middle of it and doing whatever can be done."
The pace of business may be somewhat different than what he's used to in the south, but Mac presented
well and I would recommend him for next steps.
