EXPERIENCE AND SPECIALITIES PLAY INTO RECRUITING THE ‘RIGHT FIT’
In Fiscal Year 2025, Michigan Medicine experienced
remarkable growth in its Advanced Practice Professional FY25 APP HIRES: EXPERIENCE LEVEL
(APP) workforce. Compared to the previous year, the
number of filled APP positions increased by 47%, marking New Grad
one of the most significant year-over-year surges in 13.3%
recent history. Looking back over the past five years, the
total number of APP positions hired at Michigan
Medicine has nearly doubled, representing a 97%
increase since FY21.
This expansion was matched by a sustained demand for
experienced practitioners. In FY25, a substantial 81% of
newly hired APPs brought at least one year of 5+ yrs
professional experience to their roles. Notably, of these 43.3%
experienced hires, 35% had more than five years of prior
experience, highlighting Michigan Medicine’s
commitment to robust clinical leadership and expertise.
The Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP Certification was
the most sought after certification, with 44% of all newly
hired nurse practitioners holding this credential. This
trend reflects the growing needs of Michigan Medicine’s
patient populations and its strategic focus on acute and 1-4 yrs
specialized adult care.
