If I had the whole world's attention
If I had the whole world's attention, I would like to talk about the mental
health of high school kids which is often overlooked by many people. High
school can be very stressful, and most students face a lot of pressure like
homework, midterms, extracurricular activities and trying to fit in with people.
These issues can lead to serious mental health issues such as anxiety depression
and for some kid's suicidal thoughts. In this generation social media makes it
even harder. Teenagers often talk badly about each other on social media or
compare themselves with people they see online. This causes more stress and
pressure for the students. They feel like they must look perfect or have good
grades or be who they are not and pretend to be someone else.
Most teenagers don't like to talk about the topic of mental health because
they're scared, they might get judged, people might gossip about them or tell
their parents. From what I know a lot of kids get pressure from their teachers to
have good grades or have trouble communicating with them which leads to the
students resenting their teacher. I think schools should take their students
mental health problems more seriously, like having counselors that the students
wouldn't be afraid to go to and can talk about their feelings and open up to
them. And create a more supporting and safer environment for the students to
study in. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and schools
should take that more seriously.
