(~8I8) and finish off with BUTTON ~656.

3729. A leash for a large dog of rawhide belt lacing.

Taper and skive four thongs, form a loop with the small end of the 3130

longest strand, and seize all strands together. Lay up a FOUR-STRAND

SQUARE SINNET. Surmount it with a large BUTTON KNOT. Cover the seizing

with a leather shoestring TURK'S-HEAD.

3730. A CARRICK BEND belt. Make the eye first and finish with

BUTTON ~603. Reverse the knots alternately to avoid torsion.

3731. A twelve-strand leash of tarred fishline.

3733. A lady's belt. A single length of FOUR-STRAND SINNET in two

colors with ends seized together. Add three SEVEN-LEAD X FOUR-BIGHT

X THREE-PLY TURK'S-HEADS.

3734. A toggle and loop belt. FOUR-STRAND FRENCH SINNET

around the toggle/ seize and make two short sections of FOUR-STRAND

SQUARE SINNET/ a section of EIGHT-STRAND SQUARE SINNET/ a loop of

FOUR-STRAND SQUARE SINNET/ add three TURK'S-HEADS.

3735. A belt of SIX-STRAND ROUND SINNET, made as ~3733' Loops

are knotted together with a tasseled cord. 3731 313S' 3736

3736. A sword mat (~2964) or any FLAT SINNET may be made into

a belt by using two rings. Divide strands for the top ring and sew the

sinnet to the back at the bottom ring. Sew a thong to one ring and tie

with a LATIGO KNOT (~lp8).

3737. A loop key guard of three thongs. Middle and make a sec-

tion of SIX-STRAND ROUND SINNET. Slit the ends to take the keys.

3738. With an even number of loops, double the cords and seize

with a CONSTRICTOR KNOT.

3739. A knob key gucrrd. Double two pieces of fishline, tie a

FOOTROPE KNOT. SQUARE SINNET and tie any FOUR-STRAND BUITON.

3740. When employing an odd number of strands or making a

guard for a considerable number of keys, knot one end of any cord

and seize the strands together below this knot.

3741. A knob key guard of TRIANGULAR SINNET. Middle five

strands, tie a BUTfON KNOT. Cut one strand close to knot and make sinnet

3742. For an extra key, side splice to one of the strands.

3743. A two-strand guard for an ignition . Make the loop and

tie a MATTHEW WALKER KNOT, finish off with 980.

3744. Instead of knotting strands as ~ 3740, if a small knot is

needed tuck the ends through the strands as shown here and seize

tightly with a CONSTRICTOR, or else tie ~ 560.

3745. A ring key guard. Middle three or more leather shoestrings

through a ring. Make a short length of FRENCH SINNET and seize ends

evenly by pairs. Lay up ends alternately front and back, making

long loops of equal length for the keys. Tie a DIAMOND KNOT and

draw all ends snug. Keep the knot flat.
