Chapter 1: Introduction
A green LED for each input signal confirms normal operation. If any of the
signals being monitored goes into an alarm condition the following occurs:
• Displays a message telling the user which input is in alarm condition.
• Displays a description of the alarm condition.
• Audible alarm sounds.
• Red LED lights only when a source input has an alarm condition.
When the battery needs changed, Real Time clock battery low displays on the
Master Alarm, but the buzzer does not sound. The message logs into the Error
Log when the CheckSum Test is run. This is a test that the Master Alarm runs
automatically every 24 hours.
If the Network Communications Board is installed in the Area Alarm, it
communicates with the Master Alarm through the facility’s Ethernet. The
Master Alarm indicates an Area Alarm condition with both audible and visual
indicators and logs the alarm into its event log. The Master Alarm retains the
event log for viewing or downloading to a computer file where it is available
for data tracking and troubleshooting.
The Silence key silences the audible alarm. You can set the time between the
audible alarms to resound never, every 30 minutes, every 60 minutes, every 90
minutes, or every 120 minutes. The most recent alarm lights its corresponding
red LED, while any of the previously acknowledged alarms’ LEDs remain
steadily lit.
NOTE:
To comply with the requirements of the City of New York Department of
Buildings; Materials and Equipment Acceptance Division (M.E.A.), do not set
the alarm return time to “never.” Set the alarm to return every 30 minutes.
Each new alarm condition resounds the audible alarm even if the alarm has
been silenced for a previous condition. When multiple alarms occur, the error
messages scroll on the Master Alarm’s display. If more than 30 alarms are
occurring simultaneously, the Master Alarm displays “Additional Remote
Alarms Exist.”
The Test key starts a self-test diagnostic routine.
• All of the LEDs light.
• The characters on the display illuminate.
• The alarm sounds.
• The configured alarm points scroll on the display. If the alarm message is a
custom message, the word custom displays instead of the message.
