Education
Education has different meaning for different people. For some, it is a
path to freedom from their downtrodden lives, for some it is the way to
realize their dreams. Education means academic qualifications that we
get from the schools and colleges. Another meaning of education also
consists of learning our culture, tradition, how to behave in the society
and with our fellow human beings. Education makes us more aware. One
little story to emphasize this point.
Nikhil and his parents move to a new home which has a beautiful garden.
They appoint a gardener who also has a son, Sameer. Both are of same
age and have the same innocence. Nikhil’s parents, both educated, had
taught him to treat everyone respectfully. So Nikhil was great friends
with Sameer, irrespective of their economic difference.
Nikhil, one day, came home Sameer looking very sad. He sees him hold-
ing a book upside down. Nikhil puts the book properly in Sameer’s hands.
Sameer starts crying and says. “Dada, everyone in my class was teasing
me saying that I don’t know anything because I am a gardener’s son.
“Nikhil was surprised and said, “what if you are a gardener’s son? If you
start learning you will know everything and I will help you in this. “so,
Nikhil spent all his free time teaching Sameer to read and write. He
even spent his pocket money to buy study items for Sameer. After ex-
ams, everyone comes to know that Sameer has scored top marks in the
class. Nikhil and Sameer start to dance after hearing the news. Nikhil’s
parents feel very proud of their son who is indeed a good human being.
As every flower is taken care equally in the garden by Sameer’s father,
education should be given to all without any difference. Only then every
flower (i.e, children) will bloom and flourish creating a cultured and har-
monious society.
