Parkside Football Club 1897/2017
The majority of the committee bar a select few, didn't want to or wasn't prepared to put in the
hours to ensure that the club was a success off the field this year.
I have been very frustrated with this year and for my shortcomings I apologise to all members. I
would like to stay involved with the club next year, if you as members are willing to keep me
onboard. I will only be prepared to do this if there is a strong committee to help me along the way
and take their share of the workload.
Yours Sincerely,
David Campbell

PARKS1DE FOOTBALL CLUB
Having come runner up last season and losing a good number of players from last year’s grand final
team (12 different players), there was a lot of work we had to do to become a better side and recruit
well. We were very fortunate to secure Sedat Sir and Steve Zavalas over summer, this gave the club
the necessary enthusiasm and created a lot of excitement around the place. These two created a
chain reaction giving us good positives to sign up and secure others who were looking elsewhere.
I've been at the club for 3 years, 1 a player and 2 years as coach. Parkside has been a great club to be
at. There were plenty of highs and plenty of lows. As a coach I was fortunate to only lose 6 games in
2 seasons, so I consider myself very lucky. Over those 2 seasons I've had plenty of support off a lot of
different people. People like Gary Turner, Michael Shepparbottom, Brian Watt, Neil Gunning, Mark
Gale, Michael Cammerino (Captain), Brian Wilson and others that don't come to mind. I've also
made myself plenty of very good friends over the years. As a coach I would also like to thank the
support I got off all the players, the respect we created for one another will be something I will
always remember.
I would also like to thank all the committee and all the unsung workers around the club.
I would like to think that I gave the club 100% and more over the 3 years I was here. It's sad to be
leaving such a great place but as I've said to people you (as a coach), have a life span at a club and I
thought mine was up.
Anyway as I said at the start of this letter we came runners up in 1999 and were premiers in 2000.
Thanks for all the support and thanks for the memories.
