Muslims all over the world have two Eids. Eid Al Fitr comes after the month of fasting (Ramadan)
which is celebrated with family members, friends, neighbours and all other people we know. Usually,
people start preparing for Eid ten days before Eid day. The celebration of Eid is different from time
to time, from family to family, but generally people from Afghanistan do the following:
They clean all their homes thoroughly
They buy new clothes
Women and girls put henna on their hands
They dry fruits which are special for Eid
Some people have picnics
Some people bake cookies called in Afghani goshi fill, very popular in Afghanistan
Making cookies and sweets is very traditional
for Eid day.
When I was in Afghanistan, we used to have a
really good time and fun on Eid days. As a
family, we still celebrate Eid, but it’s not a big
celebration like it is in my country.
