Page 51 - Producing a Video to Communicate a New Model of Coaching to GAA Coaches

I like this quote, not sure where I found it, 'It's all about the journey. What you learn,
connections you make, how you love, compassion you've shown. It's the good you've
done, lives you've touched and growth you've made.'
I am aware that Connectivism is a hypothesis of learning that sees learning as the
process of creating connections.’

In my work I endeavour to collaborate with my colleagues and the other key
stakeholders in the various projects we engage in to produce outcomes that are more
than the sum of their parts. I attempt to reinforce this way of working with a poster on
the wall over my workspace (Photo 4.2).

While I have a great passion for Gaelic games themselves, it is the social capital
generated by participation in the GAA that I believe is the most important outcome of
its activities. This social capital is a manifestation of the positive relationships formed
through passionate engagement in the organisations activities, and in the many roles
performed through which people contribute and collaborate, create community and
take responsibility for passing that which they value on to others. It can be seen as an
outcome of GAA activity in all the organisations units, and its enduring value reminds
us of who we are and where we have come from. For example, Photo 4.3 records a
celebration of the effort of myself, my teammates and our coaches 20 years on from our
victory with Durlas Óg in 1990.
