Coalition, Waynesville Police Department Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion Case
Manager) recently presented at the 2nd Annual Regional Perinatal Substance
Exposure Summit, organized by Mahec and Mission Health.
The summit included education about outreach following an opioid overdose, current
statistics on alcohol use among pregnant women, use of medication-assisted
treatment (MAT), breastfeeding on MAT, and pediatric care. Participants throughout
the region shared information about lessons learned, barriers to care, and ideas of
how to build a better system of care and make connections to strengthen resources
through collaboration.
News from the Wellness Clinic

The CDC recommends getting the Flu Shot by November 1 . There are still approximately
80 units left at the Employee Wellness Center. This year’s vaccine is indicated for ages
6 months and over. It is available to all full and part-time employees as well as
retirees. It is also available to any household members (people living in the same home)
of these employees. The clinic hours are 8am-noon Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and
Friday and 2pm-6pm on Thursdays. We look forward to seeing all of you and to
everyone having a healthy winter season!
