Kwan Wo has managed to add something special on a tea service that almost every retail silversmith in Hong
Kong would have had a version of. Firstly, the simple addition of the splayed bamboo legs instantly makes it
different, but the addition of the flame burst motif surrounding the pearl the dragon is chasing and the size of
the pearl makes this set stand out from the crowd; the pearl also acting as vacant central cartouche for
engraving a monogram. The loop handles are more exaggerated than normally might be expected.

The same contrasting treatments to the front and obverse sides of this circa 1890 vesta case and its rounded
edges make this a very tactile gentleman’s accessory.
