TOH KAM
            Singapore
            circa 1890-1920

A Chinese silversmith operating in Singapore making small high quality objects in the Chinese style

It is not often one will find a Chinese
            silversmith making a nutmeg grater
and particularly one on the Chinese
            style.
While this piece is recognisably Straits
            Chinese silver rather than Chinese
Export Silver, it is a particularly
            pleasing item.

However, when this piece was sold, it
was clearly described as being Chinese
Export Silver - partly because of that it
is deserving of being in this catalogue.
