TSUN TSUN [aka: SUN SUN CO LTD; XINXIN GONGSI; ]
Shanghai
circa 1926-1940
This is surprisingly not a very common mark to find; surprising, because it is the silver mark used by the third
largest department store in Shanghai, the Sun Sun Department Store . This was a large store situated
on the Nanking Road [International Settlement area] right next to Sincere & Co and opposite Wing On.
This is the Sun Sun
Department Store in
1928; the store was built
and opened in 1926.
O f t h e 4 “ g r e a t
department stores” in
Shanghai, Sun Sun was
the only one to be
wholly Chinese
registered, all the other
s o u g h t o v e r s e a s
registration to optimise
tax.
Sun Sun was the first
department store in
China to have a food
store.
