The discs were actually pressed in San Francisco and then sent back to Ullman & Co in Shanghai for
distribution throughout China. The later 57000 series of Cantonese and Southern opera were made in Hong
Kong and were marketed to the Hong Kong Chinese and the Chinese community in San Francisco. Northern
operas were only marketed in China since few Northern Chinese lived outside of China at the time.
