This circa 1850 tea pot epitomises everything about Wong Shing; a
superb fusion of traditional Chinese and high Victorian decorative
treatments with still a hint of the elegance of the neo-classical. The
mandarin figure finial, the acanthus leaf accents that separate the
figural tableaux on each segmented lobe, the foo dog and paw
bracket feet and the spout emanating from a stylised dragon’s head
are all exquisitely executed elements and all combine to make this
extraordinary piece.
Small is beautiful with the “late Georgian” circa 1835 classic toast
rack [following illustration] embellished with a small acanthus leaf
and shell motif cunningly made to resemble an opening lotus flower.
