Almost all the “Nine Factories” Shanghai silversmiths created new branches of their
retail outlets, differentiating between them simply by adding a suffix to the Yang Qing
He name [and silver mark].
The mark on the right is the mark of Yang Qing He Fu Chi. The ‘Fu Chi ‘ suffix appears
in the bottom lozenge of the mark. The top mark is the “shang” character which
signifies Shanghai. This format of silver mark was commonly adopted by most of the
‘Nine Factories” silver makers.
A circa 1900 circular tray, the centre ground chased with dragon swirling around a large central blank circular
cartouche that has stylised flames surrounding it to denote the “flaming pearl”. The rim is also chased with a
motif comprising four dragons and flames. The rim is edged with a raised bamboo-effect. The tray rests upon
four ball feet.
