overlay snuff bottle
Qing Dynasty
Carved with a cicada perched on a leaf and
squirrel clambering amongst fruiting branches
issuing from rockwork, on a snowstorm
ground; a honey coloured glass rounded snuff
bottle carved with stylised mask ring handles,
lapis stopper; and a small yixing snuff bottle
painted in blue enamels with blossoming
prunus and bamboo.
The overlay glass bottle 7.5cm (2.7/8in) long.

Comprising: a cinnabar lacquer bottle carved
with scholars at leisure, green glass stopper;
an unusual tea-dust glazed cylindrical bottle,
Qianlong four-character mark; a crackle-
glazed meiping-form bottle.
The tea-dust bottle: 5.4cm (2 1/4in) high

Two copper-red decorated blue
and white cylindrical snuff
bottles
19th century
Each finely painted in cobalt blue and
underglaze red with a narrative scene,
probably from ‘Romance of the Three
Kingdoms’, the shoulder with an archaic scroll
motif reserved on diaper band, green glass
and hardstone stoppers.
The largest: 8.5cm (3 3/8in) high (4).
