The rectangular plaque is delicately enamelled in muted tones
of grisaille and iron-red to depict a lone scholar crossing a
bridge amidst a tranquil riverscape graced by rolling tree-strewn
mountains on both sides of a meandering river with two sailing
boats. The upper right corner is inscribed in black enamel with a
poetic inscription, followed by a jiashen cyclical year and signature
of Wang Xiaoting (1906-1970), and an iron-red square seal
reading ‘Xiaoting’.
